The BPF R187 system is constructed using silicon carbide (SiC) filters. The product is particularly simple and extremely effective, guaranteeing over 97% particulate filtration. The regeneration of the R187 filter is facilitated by an external electric regeneration unit.

The BPF R187 system is constructed using silicon carbide (SiC) filters. The product is particularly simple and extremely effective, guaranteeing over 97% particulate filtration. The regeneration of the R187 filter is facilitated by an external electric regeneration unit.
The BPF 187 filter is listed as being suitable for installation to meet MSHA Part 72 Diesel Particulate Matter (DPM) regulatory requirements.
Installation
Since the BPF R187 filter does not self-regenerate during normal use on the vehicle, there are no limitations regarding the temperature of the exhaust gases, so it can be installed in any position in the exhaust line (usually as a terminal unit).
A pressure switch is also supplied with an LED fitted on the dashboard, which indicates when maintenance or regeneration of the BPF R187 system is required.

Maintenance
The correctly sized BPF R187 filter allows a continuous operating time of approximately 16-24 hours, regardless of the temperature of the exhaust gas and/or the operating conditions.
After this time, which can vary according to the engine type, maintenance conditions and fuel quality (or as indicated by the warning light on the dashboard), offboard regeneration is required.
It is quick and easy to remove the filtering cartridge using the quick release couplings.
Regeneration is performed using the electric regeneration unit which is supplied with the system, the process takes approximately 4-5 hours.

Engine Suitability
The system can be fitted to all diesel engines, without limitations in terms of engine age, diesel quality or importantly the exhaust gas temperature.

Application
The application of the BPF R187 filter is recommended on engines that do not reach the minimum temperatures for the use of a normal regenerative particulate filter. Optimal application is on diesel fork lift trucks and emergency generators.

Filter Life
The BPF R187 filter is not subject to particular wear or operating hour limits, therefore its life can be considered theoretically unlimited.
